Holy Week: Who is Jesus?

Jesus by the Jesus Painter

Today I want to discover who Jesus is.  If you have been around Christianity for any time at all, you probably have heard the verses that reference the prophecies of the Messiah.  I think since I've grown up in Christianity, sometimes I have a tendency to breeze through the verses without giving them a second though. However, as I've studied Isaiah, some specific names that Jesus is called, really hit home with me.  I hope that you can see them in a new light and claim a new truth over your life.
"...And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of      Peace."- Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)

  1. Jesus is the WONDERFUL COUNSELOR.  Do you have worries?  Are you facing a big decision and need guidance on what to do?  Turn to Jesus.  Tell Him all your concerns.  Think about it.  Jesus is part of God, the God that we sing "Into the darkness you shine, out of the ashes we rise, there's no one like you."  There is no one like HIM.  He is the creator of the universe.  He has created you and ordained all of your days.  Who is the most reliable to take away your worries and help you face your decisions?  What a privilege we have to have the God of the universe as our wonderful counselor.  He will guide you in the right way.  Trust.
  2. Jesus is the MIGHTY GOD.  Jesus has the power and strength of our God.  This is the same God that created the universe and also healed people from all kinds of aliments.  This is the same God that rose from the dead.  Can you believe that this God, this powerful God, He is on your side?  Can you believe that He is your strength? Wow.  How amazing is that!  He is your strength when you cannot go on in life.  He is the healer.  He is working all things for your good.  Believe for His power to work in your life.
  3. Jesus is the EVERLASTING FATHER.  What does the job description of a father mean to you?  Probably some one who protects you, takes care of you and love you.  Jesus  is that for us.  Even if we haven't had a positive relationship with our earthly father, or if he is passed away, we can can rest in the arms of our Everlasting Father.  He will protect, provide and love you.
  4. Jesus is the PRINCE OF PEACE.  I don't know about you, but this gives me great comfort.  This world is filled with many things that seem crazy today.  And I tend to get myself worked up into a mental frenzy over the littlest things.  How wonderful it is that when we find ourselves lacking peace, we can just go to the Prince of Peace and He will give us His peace that passes all understanding?
Who is Jesus?  This is my Jesus.
